YOUTHGIVE LA LAUNCHES!
YouthGive is excited to expand its community-based program to the Los Angeles area. YouthGive was introduced last fall at local area schools, including Brentwood School, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy, Carlthorp School, Foshay Learning Center, Larchmont Charter School, Loyola High School, and Marlborough School.
Students from 3rd to 12th grade formed teams to interview nonprofit organizations in the LA area, and wrote short profiles of each group to be featured in the LA Guide to Giving. A team of Youth Editors oversaw the editing of student submissions.
The Guide was created by 125 students from 12 local schools and profiles the work of 50 local nonprofits. The LA Guide to Giving is being distributed by students this spring through schools, libraries, local banks, restaurants, cafes and local merchants in Los Angeles.
“The LA Guide to Giving is a gift to the Los Angeles community, researched and written by young people seeking to support the city’s vibrant sector of nonprofit organizations,” says Jenny Yancey, Co-Founder of YouthGive.
