One World Children's Fund
One World Children's Fund (OWCF) supports grassroots organizations that serve disadvantaged children around the world. Shanti Cliff, co-founder of the non-profit, was inspired to create it after a trip to India. She said that when she was there she felt very helpless. "The reality of the world hit me, which had been so distant before." She saw a great need and asked,"What can I do?" The answer came from the local people in the village, which was to help with the basic needs and education of children living in poverty.OWCF believes that local people know best how to resolve problems in their communities when given the resources they need. This organization collects donations and sends them to different projects all over the world that are in need, including Africa, Asia, and South America. Project leaders provide updates periodically, and sometimes volunteers and OWCF team members go visit the projects themselves to see the progress that is being made. All projects are dedicated to children and their families, providing education, health care, and other basic necessities. Rucha Chitnis, Operations Director, says that one of the key needs of children is education. She says that education provides the foundation for children to earn a living and escape poverty. It changes their lives for the better.
