LinkTV
For the past six and a half years Link TV, headquartered in the financial district of San Francisco, has been informing viewers about worldwide issues from different global perspectives. This nonprofit 24-hour satellite T. V. network, co-founded by San Rafael resident and Link President Kim Spencer, is broadcasted on DIRECTV, DISH Network and on San Francisco channel 27. Their doors have a “Don’t make Bill O’Reilly Angry” sign opening to a control room row of monitors broadcasting global news around the clock. Link’s Peabody Award winning show Mosaic broadcasts news reports from Middle Eastern media stations daily. Its editing suite has that newsroom feel to it, the taste of adrenaline in the air. No intern here will be stuck in some insurance-office filing hell all day. They have a highly flexible program which gives youth an opportunity to work in every section of the organization, learning skills from Raisers Edge to video editing. Internships last a semester and are intended for those who are passionate about Link TV. “Other T.V. creates fake survivors for entertainment value,we are focused on real ones,” says David Michaelis, Link’s Director of Current Affairs.
