Green Planet Films (GPF) was created as a nonprofit organization in April 2003.Their mission is to spread awareness about topics such as the energy crisis and endangered species by distributing films devoted to these issues. Awareness of GPF and their work continues to grow, mostly because of Google ads and the worldwide Podcasts happening twice a month. GPF knows that their work is effective because people leave comments on their website every day. People also rent their movies by mail, like Netflix, and they have gotten sales from many countries, even as far away as Ireland. Some obstacles they face to be more successful are not enough funding and competition from larger educational distributors. What GPF needs most are more financial resources, more volunteers, and equipment. They raise funds by selling and renting out DVDs and website sponsorship. Except for Suzanne Harle, the Executive Director of GPF who works full-time, the organization is run by volunteers who work about ten hours each per month.Young people can contribute in many ways, such as helping with printing, designing, and computer work. By giving time, talent, and treasure to this organization, you can not only assist Green Planet Films, but also help save the environment.
