A Faery Hunt
A Faery Hunt is a fun and helpful nonprofit organization that brings an amazing interactive theatrical experience to children and their families. It performs for many different audiences, especially groups supporting children’s causes. The shows emphasize kindness, respect, tolerance and ecological responsibility. A Faery Hunt presents in different outdoor locations such as Griffith Park and also does community outreach to hospitals and schools. A Faery Hunt was started in 2004 by Debbie Rothstein. They now have over 20 professional actors available to perform all over Los Angeles. It is supported by the community as a whole but also welcomes sponsors who wish to help their mission. Characters in their performances include faeries, trolls, and griffins that bring stories, songs, and theater to make children smile while learning communication skills, leadership and developing self-esteem. The Bedside Faery Program visits pediatric wards and ICU’s such as The Northridge Hospital Medical Center to bring cheer to ill children and their families. They aim to make the hospital experience more enjoyable as it is a time that can be sad, lonely and scary for many children. A Faery Hunt also supports and helps raise money for many children’s help groups such as The Special Olympics, Kid to Kid, Project Safe, The Down Syndrome Society of LA, and The Epilepsy Family Camp. A Faery Hunt also has a Sister School Program. Schools can arrange a performance or fund-raising event for inner-city schools that are less fortunate and which need funds for resources or equipment they don’t have. Volunteers are accepted but if you are under 18 years of age you must be accompanied by a parent. It’s great fun for everyone. Happy faery hunting!
