Jo Sandry, Outreach Coordinator/Marin
Jo brings a wealth of experience in innovative learning and the engagement
of young people. She is responsible for the outreach to YouthGive partner
schools, and facilitates the work for the Youth Editorial Board in Marin. Jo
coordinated the editorial effort for YouthGive's first Guide to Giving in
Marin.
In addition to her work with YouthGive, Jo in an English teacher at Terra
Linda High School. There she creates and delivers curriculum that is
student-centered, with a focus on the integration of the whole student in
the classroom. Her approach emphasizes the intrinsic value of learning, ways
to communicate cooperatively, and learning to think critically.
Prior to becoming a teacher, Jo spent several years as a professional
writer, developing marketing, advertising and technical copy for many
high-tech internet companies. Her educational background includes a B.A.
from U/Mass Boston and a teaching credential from Mills College in Oakland.
Jo is also a black belt and an avid sailior.
Jo lives in Sausalito with her beloved greyhound, Hannah.
